Managed to catch WDOG again on 6955 kHz USB, beginning at approximately 9:00 PM EDT on June 27, 2026.
The Professor presented a fantastic sampling of music from 1978 and 1965. The 1978 set included Cheap Trick, The Cars, the Ramones, Dire Straits, The Who, and the Blues Brothers. After the familiar “Are ‘Friends’ Electric?” transition, the Professor announced that we were going to explore 1965. That portion included the Beatles, the Temptations, the Lovin’ Spoonful, the Animals, the Byrds, Bob Dylan, Gerry and the Pacemakers, Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs, and the Strangeloves.
There was also more very serious reporting. Medical researchers warned that you can lose an arm at any moment. Nintendo announced that Pokémon are real and can be eaten. Listeners were invited to celebrate Bring Your Daughter to War Day. There were reports of megachurches beginning missile testing and more! I trust WDOG to bring me up-to-date news!
The program included spoken and CW WDOG identifications, an invitation to visit the snack bar during intermission, and the usual wonderfully strange atmosphere. Reception was strong throughout the evening on the 71-foot random wire and RTL-SDR Blog V4, and I recorded the complete show.
I am especially glad I stayed until the end. WDOG engineer Freddie, brother of the famous Nelton, came on. He passed along a message from the Professor: “Say hi to Ellie, Ellievision, if she is still listening.”
I was still listening.
Shoutout to WDOG engineer Freddie! That man sounded sleepy. Me, I am a night owl, tuning around and looking for something weird on the waterfall.

Received an SSTV image from KQ4RXX on 7.1710 MHz. The image shows an Amateur Radio patch beneath a clearly readable “CQ SSTV” heading. The callsign was identifiable, although the image contained moderate noise, color distortion, and several horizontal interference lines.

Tuned in to WDOG at approximately 9:30 PM EDT after the broadcast had already begun and monitored it until sign off at approximately 11:45 PM.
The program featured a variety of music from 1954 and 1964, along with satirical news reports, comedy segments, commentary, and station identifications. Songs heard included “Mighty Mighty Man” by Roy Brown, “I Need You Now” by Eddie Fisher, “I Got a Woman” by Ray Charles, “Rock Around the Clock” by Bill Haley and His Comets, “Kansas City” by Wilbert Harrison, “Bad to Me” by The Beatles, “Do You Love Me” by The Contours, “How Do You Do It?” by Gerry and the Pacemakers, “High Heel Sneakers” by Tommy Tucker, “You Really Got Me” by The Kinks, and “Dang Me” by Roger Miller.
The first portion of the broadcast focused on 1954. After saying, “I don’t know about you, but I learned a lot about 1954,” the host transitioned into music and commentary from 1964. The program also included absurd satirical news stories involving subjects such as monkeys attacking people, OpenAI and nuclear power, Joseph McCarthy, high speed portals, and other deliberately ridiculous reports.
The host identified himself as Professor T. E. Magnatron and used the catchphrase, “Broadcasting to no one in particular except YOU!”
The signal sometimes reached nearly local broadcast quality, but at other times suffered from deep fading that made the audio difficult to understand. A CW identification was also heard over part of the program.

Received several clear SSTV images from KG5JJ. They included CQ SSTV images displaying the callsign, followed by a sign off image reading “SEE YA! OFF AIR.” All images were clearly readable with only minor noise and horizontal interference. 73!

Received a structured HFGCS Emergency Action Message style transmission. The message began with the six character preamble “EEBUDF,” followed by “Stand by, message follows.” The operator then read a longer alphanumeric group beginning with the same preamble, repeated the complete group after “I say again,” and closed with, “This is Gun Rack, out.”
The full encoded group was omitted from this log.
